Help setting up outlook 2007?

Outlook 2007 question?

  • I have spent 3 days trying to figure out the correct settings to input into the Account Settings on my Outlook 2007 program so that my Yahoo Plus e-mail account will allow e-mails to go out. At this point outgoing e-mails are getting stuck in my Outbox. I have put in every setting possible but continue to be told either the "e-mail Test failed" or "the connection was lost". Please, can somebody give me the missing details for why, even after following the step by step instructions for every item that needs to be input from the "POP Yahoo! Mail Plus with Microsoft Outlook 2007" solution that I am still not able to send outgoing e-mails. I do have a GoDaddy e-mail also on Outlook which is receiving and sending e-mails fine. I am only able to receive my Yahoo e-mails on Outlook (which is working fine) but cannot send outgoing Yahoo e-mails which are getting dumped in my Outbox. HELP!

  • Answer:

POP3 is for receiving. There is no need for Yahoo outgoing mail. In fact it is not recommended to have more than 1 SMTP. There should be a dropdown on the FROM field where you can display the Yahoo address even if the output is another account. ℬ ℋ

Troubleshooting tips If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from your mail program, you may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server.
