Since yesterday I get An error occurred with the POP3 mail server. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk responded:?

I've changed nothing on my PC. I use Thunderbird. Can access mail through ie What is the problem? Is it with the server??

I was getting this since yesterday evening. I removed the "plus" from the POP server name (changed from plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com to pop.mail.yahoo.com) and can now download.

Same problem in the UK - But it was related to AVAST antivirus because when I switch the incoming mail check off I didn't get the error message and could receive messages normally. Finaly solved the problem by going -> Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings -> Security Settings -> Connection security -> SSL/TLS (was None before). This changed the Port to 995 (was 110 before). Now AVAST has stopped interfering and I can receive messages again.

Same here, I updated Thunderbird to the latest versions, tried putting "plus." in front of the POP address but still no luck. Interestingly I can still send e-mails without problems. Hope this gets sorted soon otherwise gmail here I come! :(

After reading all the posts on this subject (which happened to me also, yesterday) and trying many changes in ports (465, 26, 25, etc), addresses (plus.pop........) all attempts and advice failed. Just now though I removed, in both addresses, the plus, i.e. from "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" to "pop.mail.yahoo.com" and from "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" to "smpt.mail.yahoo.com". Yahoo POP3 is now working!!!!!!!!! I don't now if the trick worked or Yahoo has fixed something, just that POP3 is now working for me!!!!

Problem seems widespread with various yahoo mail sites - several new mentions on their support forum, (but no recent answers). An old answer gave change from ~.com to ~.co.uk as a get around
