-
Trying to setup my wife's Blackbeery email direct from her work VPN server. Next time I turn on my computer Microsft Outlook is running in the background and has set up itself using my Yahoo mail account and has removed all of my emails from my Yahoo account and put them on Microsoft Outlook. I don't like Outlook and never use it. I want my eamils back on my Yahoo email. Can anyone help?

Answer:
There is a setting in the options that you need to change. You specified Outlook, and did not mention Outlook Express. So here are the steps with Outlook. I am using an older version of Outlook, version 2002. But the intent is the same, and you should be able to figure it out based on this information. Open up Microsoft Outlook. Click TOOLS > EMAIL ACCOUNTS. Again, I'm quite sure it is a bit different now, but my version is as follows. Click "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and click NEXT. Select the POP3 email account and then click CHANGE. In my version, you would click MORE SETTINGS... In the new window that comes up, click on the ADVANCED tab. The last option near the bottom of the dialog window says "Delivery". Make sure to put a check on the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server". From now on, every time you use a POP3 email client program, like Microsoft Outlook, it will check for your mail. But now it will leave the mail on the Yahoo! servers so that you can access it again. Normally when you use a POP3 email program, it will check for email on the server, get it, and move it to your computer. At this moment it is being deleted from the Yahoo! servers, or whichever ISP you are using. So you will have to dig a little in to the options of your email program. You are looking for the properties related to you email account specifically. Find where the option is and change it accordingly so that your email stays on the servers. If you wish to no longer have access to your Yahoo! email using a POP3 client, like Outlook, then go in to the email accounts options and delete the account from the list. That will remove all settings and you will no longer have access using that email program. Hope this helps.
