How do I update my information on my email account?

I received a Yahoo! email asking for my account password and info. IS IT REAL?

  • I received an email asking for my password and account information to verify my account and prevent it from being deleted. I have received these emails before, but those were obviously scams as the sender's email addresses seemed phony and unnofficial yahoo emails (e.g. [email protected]) However, this time the email i received seemed quite legitimate so i wanted to confirm that there really was an email sent out before i gave away all my account information. this is the content of the email i received: Yahoo! If the email is asking for your password It's a scam. Yahoo! would never request your password and information in an unsolicited email. "Phishing" for your private information These deceptive emails are used to commit identity theft, and lock you out of your yahoo account by changing your password DO NOT respond. did you request any thing if not don't put it in and usually if you requested a new password or what ever they won't ask you to email it just don't do anything it is a spam to take your password

Never give your Id or password away in an e-mail. Yahoo will never request that via e-mail. Mark all messages claiming otherwise as spam.

No. No reputable online service will ask for password - either you are talking to someone who has the power to give you a new password and tell you what it is or they will e-mail it to you. Trash this pfishing spam. And don't click on a link in such mail - use you usual methods of getting on the real site.

FAKE any e-mail that stars with Dear USER is a FAKE! And also, any large website like yahoo or youtube or whatever will NEVER ask you for your password. Real email start with Dear (your name or username) and don't ask for anything... they just usually tell you something like "add up to 5GB of space with yahoo plus!" or some poop...

DO NOT reply. This is a phishing scam attempting to get you to give them all your personal info. It's not from Yahoo, just delete it and ignore it. Good luck and be careful.

I have not heard of anyone else ever receiving such a thing.
