What does it mean when you get a message that says that your email acount has been compromised?

When I went to open up my email today, it said my email account had been compromised. Does that mean that someone hacked into my email or is there another problem?

Answer:
Hundreds of users have gotten this message in the last 2 weeks. Without any explanation. So we don't know if it was hackers or something else. Follow the directions in the message. There are lots of problems due to the upgrades to email so it is possible that no harm was done. If you ever receive this "compromised" message in a separate email, ignore it.

I've been getting the same logon screen ("We believe your Yahoo! account has been compromised") for the past week. I skip it and go to my.yahoo.com without problem, because I believe user "mbored" is right -- that Yahoo had a login system compromised -- see link below for his response to the issue.
