How do I get Yahoo! Mail to stop asking me to update browser?

  • I am currently using IE v.9 and the latest version of Yahoo! Mail. Every time I log on to Yahoo! Mail, I am sent to a page telling me to update my browser to the latest version. I have two choices...update or "Continue anyway". If I choose the update option, I am told that I am already using the latest version of IE (which I already know). When I click "Continue anyway", I am sent to my Inbox, but all of my settings have been reset and I have to go through the process all over again. This is most frustrating and time consuming. How do I get Yahoo! Mail to recognize that I am using the latest version of IE and stop asking me to update?

    You are not alone. This false message is appearing since Yahoo did the upgrades to YMail. They know about it and promise to fix it. You have to wait. Some users are tricking Yahoo into switching them to Classic Mail where the "update browser" message is not appearing. It only works for a short while before you are switched back.

Best bet is to leave yahoo altogether and use a different mail service. Doesn't help in retrieving your yahoo email immediately, but you'll be happier in the long run. Good luck!
