What is wrong with my Yahoo! mail account?

  • I have a Yahoo! E-mail account, and i've always been able to log in until now. Earlier today, i tried to, and it said "invalid ID or password". I tried again and again, i know i had the right password but i tried a few variations on it in case i'd forgotten it, none of them worked. So then i clicked on "forgot your password?" and it asked me if i've ever used a credit card with Yahoo!, which of course i hadn't, and it said i didn't give enough information to help me get my password! I'm really mad about this...i have a Yahoo! Answers account under that E-mail address, i had gotten to level 2 already, but now that's all down the drain! I had to get a new Yahoo! account and register on Yahoo! Answers all over again to ask this! Does anyone know what the problem is? Has this happened to you ever? Do you think it's just a temporary problem, and it will work again later? Does this mean my computer could have gotten a virus? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

Yep. You've got a nasty little bug in there that is redirecting you to a look-a-like cite that is attempting to gather your personal information and gain a pathway into the heart of your computer. If you don't have a good anti-virus program installed you need to and DO NOT go on line to get it. These bugs immediately know when and what you're trying to do and will throw up all kinds of diversions to cites you'll be wondering about for ever. Go to your local computer store and purchase one. Install the disc, follow the instructions, and let it do it's thing. If you can't afford one then find another computer to use and down load a freware one onto a disc and use that. A good one that's free is Avast-Antivirus for Windows etc etc etc but you need it quick. YAHOO would never ask you a question like the one you were asked nor would they say you didn't give enough information for them to provide you with your password. In real Yahoo, when you hit "forgot your password?" it will start a proper process to provide you with your password. Remember when you first opened the acount you were asked to select a question and then provide the answer? That's what they would have done. The biggest problem you face there is that they will send you the password to your e-mail address that you can't access unless you have provided them with an alternate e-mail address for this purpose. If you have an anti-virus porgram already then run a full scan with it and follow it's directions. Good Luck
