Why did my Incredimail outgoing mail stop working?

  • I have Incredimail for years and it worked fine along with my ISP provider which is Comcast and Microsoft Exchange Outlook for email. Just a few days ago i switched from dynamic to static ip address and outgoing mail in Incredimail stopped working. In Microsoft Exchange Outlook outgoing mail and reply work fine. This is the message i get when i try to send all the emails that are stuck in Incredimail's outbox: 554 omta02.westchester.pa.hmc1.comcast.net bizsmtp REJECT connection banner and CLOSE session : SMTP code 554 - [70.90.10.181 Comcast requires that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that requirement. For more information, refer to: http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=SecurityMail_Policy18784%5D Did not change any settings in Incredimail when changed to static ip. Here's the settings as follow for outgoing server. Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.hmc1.comcast.net Outgoing Mail Server box checked for authentication. Server Port Numbers Outgoing mail: 25 Box checked for server requires ssl...also tried by unchecking box but didn't solve the problem.

    I suspect two things. 1. For your Incredimail, make sure you have the option in Outlook checked "This requires authenticatio." You must enter your Incredimail account info. 2. You are sending email from one server out on another service. Email servers do not like this. They think it's spam. That's why you are getting the reverse DNS message. Do you have a PTR (reverse dns record) setup? You will need to. Who ever hosts your DNS can create it.
