How to stop my account from being hacked?

My account has been hacked and is being used by someone else to send emails to all my contacts. how do I stop?

• Some of my friends told me that they recieved emails with my name and email address, when they opened the email it was a link to somewhere else. What do I do now. Do I close my account and start a new one how can I stop them from using my account?

  This becomes a serious problem if you can not get into your account. That means your account has truly been hijacked. If you can get into the account, this usually has a happy ending. The spammers grab your Contact List and go. They don't send out the spam from your computer... which is why the spam emails don't show up in your Sent file. They send out 1 or 2 spams and then they leave you alone. Changing the password usually does nothing. They didn't use your password to get in and they won't be coming back. This was told to me by a Security Technician. Yahoo says that you should change your password. They have instructions in their August 3rd entry on their ymailblog.com. Don't close your account.
