What did happen to yahoo spell check?

New Yahoo Mail Spell Checker and IE9. Bug?

  • Is this a bug? Create a new email and type in the text "compos mentis" (without the quotes) Do a Spell Check. "mentis" will have the red squiggly line under it (even though its spelt correctly). Right click on it and select Ignore All. On my system, "mentis" is then truncated to "m" or "me"!!! Tried same in Chrome but it doesn't happen. So looks like its a Yahoo IE9 bug. Anybody else had problems with words being truncated after a Spell Check under IE9? Thanks in Advance Richard

  • Answer:

Yes, I had sent an email about meeting a train and discovered in the 'Sent' folder that I arranged to leave Gui and arrive at Wok. I had to email again to clarify Guildford and Wokingham. I hope the cause is found soon and put right. From what you say, Richard, it seems to be a Yahoo problem, not an IE problem. Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not alone with this quirk. If anyone thinks we made a user mistake and there is really nothing wrong, that would of course help. David

Yes, many problems ! As you mentioned I have known that the spell check is very incorrect many times. Many words are not recognized. I have been wondering whom ever put this spell check together... if they have had any education in spelling, English, grammar!
