How can i eliminate my old yahoo email account?

Why is my Yahoo Mail account blocked with "Technical Difficulties" screen almost every day now?

  • Yesterday, Sat 12/17/2011 I was without my email for at least 13 hours. Over the 30 day period immediately prior my account was inaccessible for shorter intervals (from 1 to 5 hours each) almost every day. Does this mean my account has been hacked? What is causing this disruption? I note from another Yahoo user that there is nothing wrong with Yahoo service generally. Is there something I am doing wrong? Particulary should I back-up somehow, or eliminate all saved email?

    There are dozens of problems. Yahoo is redesigning its home page and it is causing disruptions throughout the site. This happens once a year when Yahoo does upgrades and maintenance. You can't fix it. You have to wait. Help.yahoo.com is slowed by the many complaints.

mine was down on the 16Th and down again on the 12/18/2011 error tae 14 they are having trouble it is not our PC, I tried to log in on my neighbor PC and could not but she could log into her yahoo email. really makes you wonder. Jim

I can't check my email either. Couldn't do it yesterday (most of the day), can't do it today. I don't know what's going on, but it's annoying.

Same thing happening with me in Hawaii. I can only contact through other means like facebook, etc.
