Can I change my default email address without losing my mail?

• I'm pretty sure I can change my email address. But does anyone know a way that you can do it, even if it has to be done manually, that won't delete all of my emails that I have? I like everything about my email except the fact that I just made it to have an email so I just typed in anything. But now I use it quite often and I hate the name. So I just want to change the email address's default name, but I have like over 400 emails that I really want to keep. Can anyone help?

  Fortunately, Yahoo thought of that problem, and the solution is easy! If you open an alternate ALIAS account you will not lose anything (contacts, address list, saved mails, folders.) If someone sends mail to the old e-mail address, it will go to the same Inbox so you don't lose any messages. There is a drop-down menu at the right in From: where you can choose which address to use. Use it just as you would your primary address (which of course you can still use). You can send and receive email from either address from the same Inbox. http://edit.yahoo.com/config/list_alias * To notify your contacts of the email change, click on Options (Help in Beta) > Mail/More Options > Accounts (left side), then click on Add or Edit. Go back and click on Mail again. Under Management, scroll down and click on Announce E-mail Address, compose a message, AND add your Contact List in the header (BCC). Click on Preview and Send. * * If you want to make your secondary Yahoo e-mail address as your primary address, you can click on Options (Help in Beta) > Mail/More Options > Account Information > Password again. Once in your account you will see E-mail Information. Click to designate which one you want as your primary, then click SAVE. *
