I'm trying to set up Evolution email (Ubuntu Linux) to use Yahoo email. SMTP doesn't work.?
-
My settings. Server Type: SMTP Server Configuration: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Use Secure Connection: SSL encryption Type: Login Username: <my username> When I click on Check for Supported types it returns the error message: "Host lookup failed: smtp.mail.yahoo.com: Name or service not known" POP works fine and I can receive email but can't send it. SMTP settings don't work. Has anyone had success setting up Evolution email to work with their Yahoo email service?

Answer:
Instead of using the smtp address provided by Yahoo, you can contact your internet service provider to get the IP number for their smtp server. It is a number like 123.456.78.90 and is entered into your email client settings instead of the typical smtp server address. Works like a charm.
