Does the "Not Spam" button really do anything?

Why does yahoo refuse to create a filter to block .info spam?

  • I have 500 address in my blocking list and 495 of them are from a .info domain. Yet, I still continue to get at least 20 emails a day from other .info domains. I can't report them, or yahoo will shut me down. I can't block them because yahoo refuses to create the ability to block anything that comes from a .info domain. So, I am stuck being screwed. I don't see the point of clicking on the spam button when they already go to my spam folder. That tells me yahoo already knows they are spam - which is why they shut me down when I try to REPORT them. I also don't see the point of saving them in the spam folder until yahoo gets around to deleting them. I click on delete, then I have to tell them I am sure, and then I have to empty them from my trash. It seems like a lot of work on my end for it to end up nowhere.

  • Answer:

You are correct. It seems like 99% of the dot info websites are scams or spams. You can read about the efforts to stop them at suggestions.yahoo.com where the first entry is a Spam Battle Thread. Yahoo won't ban dot info. They have been asked many times.

Other answers

Do not use the blocked address list. Use a filter. Create one that sends to trash any address ending in info. That will get rid of all of them. Click "options ↬ mail options" and then "filters" in left column. You can then get rid of the 495 blocks. If there is a specific info domain you want to keep just place its filter first and route to a specific folder. ℬ ℋ
