How do I remove the Yahoo mail "What's New" tab?

Yahoo Classic Mail Recent unread emails from contacts?

  • Sure would like some help. All of the sudden my Yahoo Classic Mail started showing on my mail home page "recent unread emails from contacts" with also a preview of the email. HOW do I opt out of this, this really is a privacy issue for me. I followed the steps of a poster from 3months ago here. Title is: "Yaoo mail new look...Why?" I went into I am still in yahoo classic, so I wasn't switched over to new yahoo. I also went into the options, then general tab an there was no where for me to "uncheck" connections/contacts. So my question is, how do I remove this option? I can not find anywhere to remove it, I just want it to show the way it use to... how many unread messages in my email. I thought maybe I could at least get it to be below news, but no option for that either. Help would be so appreciated, Thank you for your time

I suspect you aren't talking about "updates/connections"----but the newest addition to the Classic mail page---"Recent unread emails from contacts". It also showed up on my page, just this week, and I'd like to remove it too, but I don't think you can. Hope someone can find an "OFF" button for it. Someone suggested UNchecking the "enable updates or connection" box, in your settings, but that doesn't work, of course. (I never had that option checked in the first place). This appears to be just another "brainless" idea of Yahoo. You could always send feedback---for all the good it would do. Maybe they would give us an option to disable it. Point your mouse at "Help" (top of mail page) and click on "Feedback".

On the mail screen click Options then click Mail Options. Under General uncheck the box at the top that says Manage who sees my Updates. Click Save Changes, upper left. This is something new that Yahoo is doing with Updates. If you don't want anything shared about you then go to My Activity, click Edit my Preferences, scroll to Updates, click the arrow in the box, then click Don't share my updates. Click Preview at the bottom then click Ok. Go back to Edit my Preferences and scroll back to Updates, now click Manage who sees your updates. Click the arrow in the box, then click No one. Click Save. This should stop it If you just want to remove individuals, then Click on the “Contacts” tab from any profile page to view your Yahoo! Contacts. You will see all of your connections listed in the left hand column, each denoted with a blue connection icon. Click on a connection to display the contact information of this person. You will see the blue connection icon next to the text Connection under his or her name. Next to this, you will see a Remove link. Simply click Remove to remove this user from your connections
