Why is mail so slow?

Why is Yahoo POP mail experiencing slow delivery recently?

  • Web mail seems to be working fine for me, but sending through my mail program (Apple Mail) results in the recipient not getting the message for hours. I see that many people are having similar problems. Is it just a thing with Yahoo Mail Plus and POP mail? Help! Yahoo needs to address this problem!

    You've paid extra for "Premium" Yahoo mail and Yahoo has rewarded you with premium service, processing each and every email that you send, with the utmost care, as a result delivery, like fine food, can take some time. Relax and enjoy the experience. Yahoo support says that they are "working on the problem". I've been using yahoo for years and maybe now is the time to switch, since gmail pop3 is free.

Yahoo! on the web or through my iPhone seems to be working OK, but if I send through either Entourage or Mac Mail, I often get error messages. Then, when the message actually "sends," it doesn't reach its intended recipient's inbox until hours or days later. It seems ridiculous to pay for POP access on Yahoo! with this type of service, especially since Gmail's POP access is free.
