How do you get the attention of Yahoo programmers to report a bug?
-
Firstly, I am trying to report a bug with Yahoo mail and there doesn't seem to be a place on the Yahoo help site to report bugs, just a "feedback" form which they won't respond to. So that is useless. It would help a lot if Yahoo had a place for programmers interfacing with Yahoo to write to yahoo programmers. The comment section on the Yahoo mail blog is closed now so no-one is listening there. I am reporting a bug with composing an email via a mailto: link or via http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/ when you are passing subject= ... &body= ... type parameters in the link. The bug relates to passing the "%26" the hex code for "&" in the link which gets wrongly converted by Yahoo mail during a redirect. I want to give an example but the links I am quoting are getting shortened plus the code for ampersand is being interpreted instead of quoted so you cannot see what I am quoting. VERY annoying. I will insert some spaces so that you can read this. compose.mail.yahoo.com/ ?Subject=Peter%20Dow& body=http%3A%2F%2Fscot.extroverthost. com%2Fforum%2Fprofile.php%3F mode%3Dviewprofile%26u%3D2 is redirected from there to for example in my case - uk.mc870.mail.yahoo.com/mc/ compose?.rand=1076276587&subject=Peter%2… body=http://scot.extroverthost. com/forum/profile.php? mode=viewprofile & a m p ; u=2 and you can see that the "%26" has be wrongly converted into a " & a m p ; " which then doesn't appear as it should in the email body. The "%26" should have been redirected as was with no conversion into " & a m p ; " which was totally unnecessary and has stopped it working! So Yahoo ought to fix that problem so that compose email links work even with "%26"s in the link representing "&" in the email body. But there is the general problem of getting the attention of someone in Yahoo who can fix problems with the software. How DO you get their attention? You know what would be really nice? If Yahoo would just publish an email address for Yahoo programmers so you could email them. Too easy huh? I suppose Yahoo mail would be worried about a whole load of inappropriate emails, spam and so on. Well sort it out Yahoo! Come up with a solution! Feedback forms Yahoo don't respond to and Yahoo answers where your links get covered up is not a solution! - Peter Dow

Answer:
Good Luck. You would be better off applying for a job with them to repair the bug, than to get through to them in my humble opinion. They used to want feedback from their users. Now it seems that they don't.Report a problem used to be a click able link, also there was Report a Bug. About everyday my friends are dropping Yahoo Mail for one reason or another. I know I will get a low rate for this answer. I asked a similar and caught hell for it already.
