What is wrong with my e-mail account?

What is wrong with this email account?

  • My mom wanted me to check her email today, and we were troubled to find that a majority of her emails were deleted. (Yesterday she had over 400 read emails, but today she only have 40.) I check her general preferences, but I saw nothing that suggested that the emails would be deleted after a set time (She has an sbcglobal.net account). What could be wrong? Details=10.

  • Answer:

SBC global has a spam guard, it's possible that for some reason the spam guard was down yesterday and perhaps cam back up today. Another thing is if she trashed them (deleted them) depending on her setting when she signed out that could have emptied the trashcan thereby leaving her with no more e-mails. It's also possible that someone has gotten into her account. The last thing is that she may have gone over her mailbox limit, and in an effort to clear it out, some of them were deleted. My suggestion is to do the following. 1. have her change her password to something that no one can guess...someone (even somone she doesn't know) could have hacked in and made changes. 2. Look at the "trash" settings, determine how long something can stay in trash without getting permantately deleted and make changes as nessiary. 3. Check e-mail every day to keep from going over the maximum limit of e-mails 4. Be sure that no e-mails we accidently sent to a different folder. Good luck hope that helps
