Why I experience difficulties with loading attachments on yahoo mail?

How do I get "chat and mobile text loading" to go away from my Yahoo Mail?

  • I am so annoyed! Everytime I open my Yahoo Classic mail box, things freeze up because all of a sudden I have this blue box under my folders menu that says "chat and mobile text loading..." By the way.. it never has actually loaded, just making my email experience a misery! How do I turn it off? And... can someone tell me if I turned this on somehow or was it added by yahoo?

  • Answer:

It's nothing you did----Yahoo just dumped it on all of us. AND---You can NOT remove the new Chat feature from your Classic Mail (unfortunately)----BUT--- you CAN disable it so it doesn’t sign you in when you go to Mail. When the page loads, look for the IM contact list on the "left hand side". Click where your status says “Available” and THEN select “Sign out of Chat”. This will disable the feature. The box will still be there, under trash, but it will be inactive now.

Can go from MAIL, to CONTACTS, to CALENDAR, to NOTES w/o issue. Frustrated big time, no access since 3/18, so opened trouble with Custmer Care on 3/20. Had two replies from Customer Care. Canned responses for most part. Today got another ... " Our Engineering team is already working on a possible fix for this now. Ticket number for this issue is 2609681." Will post any more responses from them. Pls do same. Thxs.

I have just figured out how to turn this annoyance off. There's a Firefox Add-On called NoScript. It's quick to download and you restart Firefox. How I removed the chat box was I right-clicked on my Yahoo Mail "Welcome Page", and selected "forbid yimg.com" in the "NoScript" option. Poof! No chat thing. "Yahoo" indeed! EDIT: I've just been using my email now (I've quit and reopened Firefox) and my Compose page had no text box. I had to choose allow yimg.com. I'll continue to see if I can find a way to get rid of the chat box.
