Yahoo Mail search - useless customer service?

• Yahoo Mail search function doesn't work. I had two chats with Yahoo customer service and 4 emails with the technical support staff. They all say that they care about my business (I am one of those suckers that pay for Yahoo mail) but the search function continues to return null results for any term in email more than on day old. Terrible customer support. Is there a way to elevate to issue to somebody with sufficient technical skills that would not reply that everything works now when they have done nothing?   The exact same thing has happened to me!!! They wanted access to my account to send the problem to engineering. I hate to do that since it seems they then have access to lots of private info in emails; passwords etc. what is the way to handle this? Anybody? I've tried switching to Yahoo Mail Classic, updating Firefox, switching to Safari, latest version of Java, removing cookies etc. nothing has worked, even and all the steps in the trouble shooting site.
