Why does the chinese new year 4704 (pig 18.Feb.2007) not coincide with the new moon this year (17.Feb.2007)?
-
The chinese new year is always linked to the lunar cycle and I've always thought it is the date of the new moon. This year, 2007 sees the new moon on 17th Feb. So how come the chinese new year is on the 18th?

Answer:
I'm with the Golden Pig answer. A golden year only comes around every 60 years making it very special. In China everyone has dropped work to be with family or friends for this extremely rare occasion. The next Golden year of the pig will not be until 2067! Have fun and happy new year :)
