What winter holiday do you celebrate this time of year and what is your fondest holiday memory of it?

  • Just looking for the holiday name & personal memory of it. not looking for long cut & paste quotes on why a holiday is good or bad. When I was a child my family celebrated Christmas. My best memory is spending a Christmas Eve all day in NYC... window shopping down 5th ave, ice skating at Rockafeller Center, dinner, a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park with hot cocoa. It was one of the most amazing nights ever. I've been Wiccan my entire adult life & my husband is Pagan, we celebrate the Winter Solstice & my favorite memory of it was one year we went to a candlelight vigil and sang Solstice songs, it was so beautiful and peaceful and moving.     Christmas!!!!!!!!! Its so hard to pick just one memory. Me and my family do a bunch of crafts and I love shopping for gifts. Then of course cookies and cocoa and even though I haven't seen snow (live down south :P) Christmas is amazing :D

I celebrated X-Mas, and still do with my family, but I found Wicca and will celebrate Yule this year, and look forward to it, but onto my memory: On X-Mas morn, I looked in my stocking and found a game for my GameBoyAdvance (that was a long time ago), I got a bike, and it was my favorite morning, because I was happy, and I remember a warm glow. :)

We celebrate Yule by fixing a buffet and inviting a few people over. We keep a fire going all night, outside if it's not bitter cold, or more usually in the fireplace. Sometimes we have small gifts. We play tournament games such as Yu Gi Oh or board games. Then we watch the sunrise.
