When to hide Easter Eggs?

Why do we hide eggs for Easter?

  • Easter is a religious holiday - so where do the eggs come in? And why an Easter Bunny when there are so many other animals stereotypically born in Spring?

  • Answer:

Easter started as a pagan holiday that celebrated the coming of Spring and the fertility of land and animals. The eggs symbolizing both the rebith of plant and animal life. The rabbit, being a highly fertile animal (mate like bunnies) adopted as the totem animal of the celebration. The name Easter comes from the Teutonic Goddess of the Dawn: Bede Eostre.
