How To Apply For A Visa To Australia?

How do I apply for a visa to Australia?

  • I'm studying in New Zealand. I don't know if people from New Zealand have to apply for visa when they travel to Australia or not, but since I'm not a New Zealander (but I do have a student visa), I'm not quite sure what I have to do to be able to travel to Australia. If I do need a visa, how do I apply?

  • Answer:

People who hold a passport of New Zealand do not need a visa to travel to Australia, however this does not apply to permanent or temporary residents in New Zealand who hold another passport. Since you did not state your citizenship in your question we can only guess. You have asked the question in Y!A United States, are you an American? In this case you will need an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) which can be obtained on the website of the Australian Immigration Department. It is valid for 12 months and allows several stays with a length of up to 3 months. The visa is free, however a service charge of AU$20 will be levied. Have your passport and a credit card ready for the application, that's all you need. In general this visa will be approved on the spot, in exceptional cases the processing may take up to 12 hours. It is a label-free visa, which means you don't have to go to the High Commission since your eligibility to travel will be checked online without your passport containing any visa label. http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ .. The same procedure applies to passport holders of Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR), Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea. Taiwanese and British Overseas Nationals can also get this visa, however they can't apply online at home but have to get the visa from an airline or a travel agency. http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/eta.htm .. All passport holders of the European Union, the European Economic Area and the countries and micro-states surrounded by EU/EEA countries can apply for a similar online visa, the e-visitor. It grants the same stay and validation, however it may take up to 10 days of processing in exceptional cases. There is no charge for the e-visitor. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/evisitor/_pdf/fact-sheet-evisitor.pdf .. If you hold another passport you will need to get an Australian tourist at a fee of AU$105 prior to travel. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/676/ .. .

You must have a visa to enter Australia. Which visa you need will depend on your country of citizenship; what you want to do in Australia and how long you want to stay. Everything you need to know about Australian visas including costs and how to apply can be found on the official government immigration website. http://www.immi.gov.au/immigration/ You're probably after a Tourist visa for a stay of under 3 months, so here is a direct link to that section: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/visa-options.htm

NZ citizens do not need a visa to come to Australia - everyone else does. A NZ student visa means as much as having a Walmart Card (ie. is worthless). You will need to apply for a tourist visia to the Australian consulate/embassy in NZ.

It depends what nationality you are. Most accurate information you can get is on DIAC website, www. immi.gov.au; when you open this website, there is a visa wizard on the home page, click on that, fill in the details, answer some questions and it will tell you what you need and what not.

you can not get in to Australia on a new zealand visa, you will need an Australian tourist visa
