Where can I work without necessary qualification?

Can anyone give me any information on the qualification you need to possess to work behind a bar in Australia?

  • I'm hoping to go to Oz next year and someone told me about a qualification you need to have, an RSA? Can this be done in the UK before you go? Any information would be great. xx

    The Responsible Serving of Alcohol certificate is valid only if obtained at one of the Australia Training providers (generally TAFE) - you will need this as a pre-requisite to serve alcohol in a restaurant or bar. Its only a 1-2 day course.

It would also help to have your RCG, Responsible Conduct of Gaming, in case the bar has TAB (betting) facilities. An RSA, Responsible Service of Alcohol, and RCG are generally taken together and are both a 1 day course. You can do them when you first arrive or I believe you can take them online.

Well it would be a good idea if you knew the difference between a Pimm's Cocktail and a Singapore Sling... and that's just for starters!
