    It really does depend on where you're studying. Bigger cities have a higher cost of living, and bigger institutions charge more. Adelaide has a huge push on education right now (it's the third largest export), and a few organisations established to assist foreign students. Course fees - range from $25,000-60,000 AUD Books - also depends on the subject, minimum $400/year Housing - depends on where, minimum $150, but could be as much as $350/week Food - $60-80/week Mobile - depends on the service/use, $30-50/month Utilities - depends on housing arrangement, roughly $100-150/month Health Insurance is usually included in the cost of course fees Student application fee - roughly $100 Student visa - $625 (http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i/students-visa-charges.htm). You can work, but only up to 20 hours/week during classes, and unlimited outside of school weeks. It depends on the course you are studying and which institution. Course fees alone can be anywhere between $A30000 and $60000 per year on average. Some course and institutions maybe slightly cheaper and some course e.t.c (such as medicine) are quite more expensive. On top of those course fees you also have living expenses, of which I'd allow a minimum of $500/week baseed on share accomodation in a capital city. You also need to buy text books, whose costs vary from course to course for example an Arts student maybe able to get away with $200 for books in the first semester, but a nursing student will need to fork out at least $600 for text books and a uniform. Under a studemt visa you can work, but only a maximum of 20 hours/week.

As of current, if you are planning to study a college or university level course, it would require you around AU$ 8,000 to AU$ 15,000 per year depending on the course. Note that this excludes other expenses that you might incur during your stay.
