Answer:
A psychiatrist has done a medical degree first and has then done psychology studies. They can prescribe drugs. A psychologist has done only the psychololical study bit. Probably the psychiatrist in general. The first is a medical doctor (not necessarily a study doctor but is called a doctor generally speaking in the community - the later may get a PhD and be a Doctor that way) Bachelor of Psychology (plus extra study) Bachelor of Medicine + further study Prestigous - depends on your definition Job opportunities, probably similar in many regards but different fields... You need to do postgrad work on the initial bachelor degree to get the job title so kind of a redundant question but it depends on where you wanted to go in regards to how much extra you'd go....

Why do you keep asking the same question over and over again? You received very good answers when you asked this question yesterday. 1. A psychiatrist is a medical practicioner who began by gaining a medical degree, a psychologist does not have a medical degree. 2. Probably a psychiatrist. 3. Psychiatrist.

The main difference is that Psychiatrists CAN prescribe medication whereas Psychologists cannot. The latter focuses on different methods of therapy such as counseling whereas the former does what doctors do - prescribe medication, request/conduct tests, review results, etc. Bachelor of Psychology is the foundation for Psychologists although further study is required for full accreditation (PhD level). Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS) is required for Psychiatrists as they are doctors and they therefore, need to prescribe medication. They will then further their studies specialising in mental health. Both can receive the title 'Doctor' as one practices medicine and the other has a PhD. Both need postgraduate work or you will be limited in your options, especially with BPsych - you can become a social worker or a school counselor at the best with a Bachelor's alone. I reckon both are important - mental health is becoming a widespread issue today, especially amongst the younger generation.

A psychiatrist uses drugs to control a condition, a psychologist takes to do with the workings of the mind.
