When traveling is it better to have a backpack or suitcase?

Which is better for traveling around Australia, backpack or rolling suitcase?

  • Answer:

Depends on where you plan to travel. If you will mainly be in cities etc. with paved footpaths then a rolling suitcase. If you plan to see some of the outback and country then a backpack is the way to go.

I'd go the backpack. It's much easier for carrying things especially if you are camping

I travelled round europe with a backpack, so i don't see why australia would be any different. Your backpack is always on your back, so your hands are free. You are carrying the weight rather than pulling it. stairs, gutters etc are easier to navigate. you can always stuff more in a backpack somehow, whereas a suitcase can be impossible to close. if you buy a good back pack it will last for years - i bought mine in 1999 and it's still going strong!

Backpack for sure.

Buy a car to travel or rent one and then it won't matter. Are you staying in top hotels or hostels? Are you old or young? Clothes will get more crushed in a back pack,do you plan on going out to the best places in town? only you can work that out
