I want to know about working visa.

Working visa, In australia, Want to know if I can get a drivers license?

  • I am currently working in Australia on a working visa, but due to my country and time I haven'tt got a drivers license, is it possible for me to get a drivers license (even if it is only permitted for a year) in this country ? I have a british passport and plan on getting my 2nd year visa ? Please answers will be appreciated thanks!

  • Answer:

You will have to go through the L and P system which means at least 6 months as a learner driver (usually more) during which time you either need to have a significant amount of formal lessons (costs between 1.5 and 2K) or have a large amount of supervised driving (a log book is required - you have to do country driving, night, city etc). Then you are on your Ps for 2 years - so you need to sit down and think of whether it is worth it. Chances are you will only have a couple of months of actual driving and then you will have to start from scratch in the UK as a provisional license is not transferable between Australia and the UK.

You haven't mentioned if you have a British Driver's License. If you don't know driving then you have to first apply for a Learners License and take training through a Driving School.
