Are there online clothing stores that are international?

Why have many international clothing stores not opened in Australia?

  • Australia is a pretty significant and affluent market, so why are there so many international clothing stores, and stores in general that do not have a presence in Australia? Take for example stores like H&M, Topshop/Topman, Urban Outfitters, Zara. These are the few who come to mind at the moment, but I'm sure there's more. I don't get it, the stores I've mentioned have presences often in relatively poor countries in the Middle East and Asia, and yet not in Australia. Why is this? Do most international companies not consider Australia to be a viable market? Does Australia have complex planning laws that are difficult and expensive to negotiate for foreign companies?

    Maybe because with the exception of Melbourne , our seasons aren't as well defined as in the northern hemisphere. Add to this the fact that our population is so spread out & we aren't such an attractive market to some....
