Whats the hourly rate of New Zealand Vs USA money?

  • Want to know the hourly rate of New Zealand Vs USA money say I'm making 9 dollars a hour USA Money how much would I be making hourly in New Zealand? Also would like to know why in New Zealand they work 45 hours when in California I only work 40 hours a week? I recently went to New Zealand and my girlfriend and her best friend were talking about working 45 hours a week sounds crazy compare to 40 hours a week. Just want to know from someone who lives there. Why do they over work them? Why is USA, Europe, Japan money currency rate is more when exchanged. When I went there I had travelers checks they wouldn't take them dinning out so I had to exchange them at the bank. I had 800 dollars usa and they gave me 1500 dollars NZ money my jaw just dropped. They only bad thing is going out to dinner with NZ money goes fast, and buying goods.

  • Answer:

in new zealand the normal working week is between 40 to 45 hours per week, that 5 9 hour working days a week with saturday and sunday off.... as for the pay rates it depends on what job you are doing... some start off on 13 dollars an hour, some start on 18... it all depends on what job you get, of course you can negotiate on these.

Hmmmm I live in Australia and I make $80 an hour and work anywhere form 2 hours (like today) to 10 hours a day., but then I work for myself - I sacked the boss. To properly answer your question you'd have to categorise the industry you are in - what sort of work do you do and at what age? In Australia the standard working week is 38.5 hours for someone who works for a boss but that also depends on their industry. Some people work 9 day fortnights, some work 7 day weeks. Once upon a time things were more standard but now that our hopefully soon to be EX Prime minister has brought in his IR (Industrial relations) Laws all that has just about gone out the window. Now your boss can demand you work longer hours, extra shifts and if you refuse he can sack you. In some industries an adult might earn $12 an hour, somewhere else $15 and elsewhere maybe even $20. What you have to consider is that in the USA (ttbomk) employers may pay you less on an hourly rate but you get stuff like Hospital and Medical cover and even cheap or free housing thrown in as part of the deal. Plus you get tips (i you are in a service industry - we don't. Tipping is not expected in AUS or NZ. You do your job and get paid, that's it.) In Australia and NZ that is almost never the case other than with some high end salary packages for executives. So we have to pay rent and pay for Hospital and Medical cover ourselves. Consider these things and the pay rate is probably fairly even for the same kind of job. The A$ is always worth more than the NZ$ but the US$ is always more than ours but we are catching up at almost 82c US to $A1, a far cry form when it was expected to drop below the 50c mark some years ago. The best comparison of wages between countries is not how many dollars you get paid but how many hours of work you have to do to be able to afford things. This is also a measure of how well your country's economy is doing. I think New Zealanders spend too much time chasing sheep that's why their dollar is worth less than hours.
