Any opinions on choosing universities in Australia?
-
I have admission from Central Queensland University for now fr my graduate studies, however its term starts July (just like most other universities in Australia) and my visa may take 2-3 months already from now. I have also applied for Bond University as it seemed that it is the only university that has its terms just like other countries (with having commencement date of study at September). However , I have not yet applied for other universities of Australia, however have applied for other countries too (which they all have their commencement date of academic years at September) What is your opionion on those two universities? (can you compare them with each other?) I still tried my chance only for those two universities as they had online application systems. I, however, would like to be in a city that doesn't get too hot, I like more cold weather though I guess a little hot weather would also be fine :). My major is in computer related fields and I am applying as an international student for my graduate studies. What is your opinions on those two universities and also any other universities do you recommend with knowing all that information?

Answer:
I would recommend you try a NSW university. QLD is warm all year round and Melbourne, while cooler in winter it is also hotter in summer, same goes for Canberra. NSW seems more mild and doesn't have the drastic temperature differences. In NSW you have UNSW University of NSW, UTS University of Technology Sydney, UWS University of Western Sydney (wouldn't recommend it though, it's sort of a last choice uni), UOW University Of Wollongong and Newcastle University. UOW and Newcastle are the better campus' outside of Sydney and UNSW is the best city campus. Both UOW and UNSW have lots of international students and accommodation, etc..

Bond university is one of the only private unis - most of the students are overseas (Australians avoid it). It does not have a good reputation - more of that is the university to go to when you cant get into all the others - its a $$$$ uni - you can pay to get your place you dont need to EARN IT,.

If you prefer colder weather, then nor CQU or Bond are good. QLD is a warmer climate, so I would suggest down south, NSW or VIC.

If you prefer cold weather, then neither CQU or Bond is for you. The CQU main campus is in Rockhampton which is right on the Tropic of Capricorn and Bond is on the Gold Coast in the sub tropics and the weather is warm to hot all year around. More importantly though is the fact that both CQU and Bond are a long way down towards the bottom of our university rankings and there are many better unis in Austalia. Look at the following which are listed in order of ranking: ANU (in Canberra which is our coldest city) University of Sydney Uniiversity of Melbourne (our next coldest city) University of Queensland University of New South Wales Monash University (also in Melbourne)
