How much would it cost to send a letter from the US to Australia?

  • It'll be sent from Rhode Island to Western Australia, which is, of course, a pretty long trip. :3 I'm just thinking about sending a traditional-weight letter, if you want to call it that. Nothing overloaded. Also, just as a side thing, how much would it cost to send a package weighing a pound? I'm assuming a lot, but, I figured I'd ask anyway. :)

    If you are mailing things FROM the U.S., you must use U/S/ postage. A normal size, one ounce letter to Australia needs 98 cents postage. You can use any combination of stamps that adds up to 98 cents or a bit more, or go to the post office to buy the exact postage. See site below and scroll down to section on small packages to see that a 16 ounce package sent 1st class would cost $10.76. You would need to take the package to the post office to get it weighed and they will tell you the different mail options.
