Where to study - New Zealand or Australia?

Australia vs. New Zealand .... where to study abroad?

  • I am from Wisconsin (US) and I am having problems deciding which program would be better for me. New Zealand seems like it is very similar to Wisconsin (except for the water!). Australia seems like it is overcrowded and too tourist oriented (blown out). I am an electrical engineering student and I love skateboarding, snowboarding, and hopefully surfing. Please help me out with some opinions on both areas.

You could try Auckland, theres a bunch of skate parks, lots of beaches around and surfing spots, it has a indoor snowpark, and you're 4 hours drive away from the mountains.http://www.snowplanet.co.nz/ , http://www.mtruapehu.com/winter/ ,http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/whatson/sports/skate.asp Also Christchurch might be a option it's close to the mountains and a bunch of different places to snowboard within 1hour to 5 hours there are different places you could go. And has some skate parks too. But won't be as good for surfing.. But you will be closer to the mountains. http://www.0800snow.co.nz/ , http://www.ccc.govt.nz/Parks/Recreation/skateboarding.asp In Australia i think Sydney would be best, good surf, plenty of skate parks, only 1hour 30 from the mountains. So just based on what you mentioned, it's a good all rounder for you and has what you love nearby..http://www.snowymountains.com.au/winter.html, http://www.littledanceinvitations.com/list_of_skate_parks_skateboard_ramps_in%20Sydney.html Are just some ideas.. Maybe look specifically look into those cities, find out some general info about what it's like to live in, and see if any take your fancy. I've been to Aussie and it's certainly not overcrowded.. Tourist oriented? meh not really, just here and there but it's not bad at all. I think you've just goten the wrong idea of it. So don't worry about that.

Hello! both are countries of young people, beautiful and almost the same, I think that you have to consider where you can find your best option to study and also you must look where you have more work opportunities, to combine both. Maybe you find your life there, so you must be prepare to everything... Here you have a site were you will find international work opportunities in New Zealand and Australia http://www.workexperienceabroad.com/ Good luck I hope you find your best option!!!

No, Australia is not "overcrowded" nor "too tourist oriented". Man, Australia is as large as your country. Don't judge it as a whole. Sure, there are places that are tourist spots but we are not overcrowded. Like America, there are some places for tourists and some place for the locals. Actually, Australia is one of the countries that's least crowded in the world. Really, have a check on that.

NZ if you love Snowboarding. Wanaka is in NZ, only place where you can surf and Snowboard on the same day.
