How much do you get paid doing part time jobs?

Is it easy to get part time jobs in Australia (NSW) ?

  • Im planning to study in Australia (NSW) so i would like to know whether it is easy to get an admission in the Uni there? About how much percentage one should score to get into a good university and how much % is required to get a scholarship? Is it easy to get a part time job? Whats sort of jobs are most common and how much does a uni student get paid? And oh yea im from the Middle East...

  • Answer:

Only Australian citizens can get scholarships for under graduate degrees. There are no scholarships for post graduate studies but citizens can get research grants. What you need to score would be very different to what we would. We actually do our HSC and get a UAI to admission to uni. You would be doing something entirely different. Your admission would be mostly granted on your ability to pay. As an international student you must pay full fee (which is more then the Australian full fee as it's subsidized) and each semester in advance. You're looking at $10,000 + per year. It's not 'easy' to get any job at the moment. Most uni students do hospitality and retail work and get around $20 an hour.

If you're from the middle east steer clear of NSW! The elements of our population tend to gravitate towards sydney and a lot of them really do not like people of middle eastern descent. I'm not sure what percentages are needed for and overseas student, i think you'd have to approach the uni directly to find out. at the moment it is virtually impossible to get a part time job- most get filled before they get advertised!

Depending on the degree you want you can get in with between 70-99% - Medicine requires 98-99%. Bad news - Australian universities do not give out scholarships for undergraduate degrees. Neither Australians or international students are able to get scholarships to attend university - main reason is that Australians tend to live at home during study and so have little need for money except for entertainment - so the system is set up as a no scholarships for anyone.
