In Australia, how do I sign up for medical research?

I have to do research on Australia. Do you know any REALLY cool facts about Australia that like no ONE knows?

  • I need stuff like... 1. What they wear 2. What music they listen to 3. What they eat 4. What kind of artwork they like to paint and see 5. Just something cool 6. Recipies for the food they eat (Please don't tell me that Australia is a continent and a country because I already know that) Haha!

The Australian Goverment has a website that is full of facts and figures about Australia. Go to http://www.australia.com/about/AboutAustralia.aspx and click on the heading 'Australia's Facts'. There you'll find most of your answers.

1. Uh, we wear clothes. The same as other people. Huh? This is a bit dumb. 2. Normal music. A lot of US music (although can you really call the modern stuff music)?. One thing though, our country music is actually awesome, country music. The songs are about stuff like working the land etc, and the beat tends to be more rock, instead of the wrist-slitting howling that passes as country in the US. 3. Food. We're not aliens. 4. There's some Aboriginal art sites. We have lots of art galleries. 5. We don't ride kangaroos, before you ask. Canberra is the capital city, not Sydney. Yes, we have winter, and snowfields. No, not everything here is poisonous. Yes, sport is our life. The major sports are AFL, Rugby League (NRL), and cricket. Soccer and rugby union are the secondary sports and then there's a lot more under that. We've only just got digital TV. 6. Look up ANZAC biscuits, lamingtons etc.

1) Clothing etc We wear thongs (note the plural) on our feet. The equivalent of flip flops in the US. We call a thong (note the single) a G-string. Wearing the Australian flag in the clothing eg a t-shirt with the flag, a towel with our flag on it etc is fine and generally not considered sacriligous... 2) Music We listen to rock / pop from overseas, we do have a solid modern music scene. There is a small but strong "alternative" scene. There is a small local country scene and some of the more rock / country can have an audience but the country music scene is not anywhere near as big as the US. Other music genres outside of the more mainstream (eg jazz and blues) do exist but we don't have a New Orleans. 3) Food Our food is generally at least recognisable but there are differences. For example, in the US pancakes and waffles are big breakfast food, and according to TV and movies, cops at least eat donuts for breakfast. We know pancakes and waffles but they are not a huge thing nor usually a big breakfast item (breakfast cereals and toast biggest, egg and bacon items common). Donuts are an occasional item eate as a snack (like a morning or afternoon tea with tea or coffee) The US eats bigger serves (apparently in a lot of places, a US is the same size as an Australian main meal. We do have Vegiemite, a sandwich / toast spread. Some eat kangaroo and emu. 4) Art work Varies, but we do have some world class art galleries and some of the oldest... (Aboriginal people have used caves to paint for centuries) 5) Something cool Kangaroos and emus cannot walk backwards 6) Recipes Lamingtons Pavlova ANZAC biscuits Meat pie Damper Fairy bread
