Where's best place to go in Western Australia?

Wheres best place to holiday in Australia for up to 3 weeks?

  • I am thinking about visiting Australia next year with my partner, its always been my dream to go to Australia but i dont know where to start. Where would be the ideal place to stay, i would preferbly like to be within easy access of points of interest/sights, beaches, mountains, deserts, the sea, animals, safari's etc. What should the average cost be for a 2-3 week holiday to Australia as i only ever do 1 week holidays in Europe. Thanks for your help with this! xx

  • Answer:

i would definitely wanna go to see as much wildlife as possible!! i would really wanna see the drop off, or other coral reefs, and then go see a show at the opera house. Surfing would totally be wicked as well! I'd also wanna go see kangaroos, and koalas on a safari or something.

I think the best places to go would be the smaller areas, on the coast. The big cities are just like other big cities in the world which I am sure you have already seen. If you chose an area such as South East Queensland, you could visit many of the smaller places like Noosa, and places in the gold coast, but I wouldnt stick to a bit city. Far North Queensland would also be a great place to come and stay. You could see the Daintree Rainforest, which is the oldest rainforest in the world, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, and take tours of the waterfalls on the tablelands. You could also take a trip to the outback from here along the Savannah way. There are many wildlife parks that you can visit to see some of Australia's native wildlife and there are many tours to all these features. There is much to do in this area.

I live in Brisbane and by far the most beautiful place i've been to was Perth or Western Australia. We stayed in a caravan park and travel down to to the Southern part of WA The beaches are so untouched I didn't want to leave. There are heaps of winery's (if your into that), we visited the tree top walk, the massive power fans (can't remember what there called) and the blow hole. It was the best holiday i've been on so far (since I was a kid). As for cost....Hiring a car will cost between $500 - $1000 depending on what kind of car you want and if you camp it's really cheap. Were we stayed it was less then $25 a night for a cabin. And all you have to pay for is you plane tickets, food and souvenir's. Hope you have fun where ever you go!

Melbourne is considered by many to be the most stylish of Australian cities. The City's mix of modern and Victorian architectures blend in an attractive manner. Be sure to see Federation Square and the New Quay for eating, drinking and shopping. If you are going to visit Melbourne, you may want to tour more of Victoria, especially the Great Ocean Road, a two hundred mile drive along Australia's most attractive coastline. I would fly into Sydney, do at least 3 nights there as it is so worth it, plenty to see and do, then I'd fly to either Noosa or Cairns for a good 10 days then fly over to Perth for the last 5 days, you would have plenty of time to see all the wonderful places on offer in both those areas, have a great time.

You should go to Port Douglas which is in Cairns so beautiful! Melbourne is also beautiful!

Firstly, stick to 3 weeks, even 3 weeks in Australia is not going to show you much. Australia is a massive country, the longer you can stay the better experience you will have. You can't be within easy access to both the desert and the beach, they are hours apart, like 10 hours. We don't have safari's, this is not Africa. While I love Melbourne, I think you should skip it on this trip, since you have limited time and the culture and shopping doesn't seem to be your priority. I would look at spending 2 weeks in Queensland and 1 week in Sydney. Hire a car and travel from Cairns and work your way down to the Gold Coast. You can visit the Great Barrier Reef, the Rainforests, the beaches and see some city life along the way. You will need to fly from the Gold Coast to Sydney, 1 hour flight, you can pick these up cheap from Virgin Blue or Qantas usually under $100. In Sydney you will get to see the differences between the two states, head to the Blue Mountains and to Bondi beach. Don't miss Taronga Zoo either. You could do a bridge climb, or head to a winery in the hunter calley. Cost is something incredible hard to answer and I don't know your budget and how you live, if you want 5 star hotels or hostels. Typically, for a decent 3 - 4 star hotel your looking around $150 outside peak times and $200 in peak. $100 each for the GC to SYD flight. $100 each for food, allowing for cheap meals sometimes and classy restaurants others. Car hire for a small sedan $50 per day for 14 days and probably $200 for petrol. So $10,000 would give you both a comfortable stay and allow for tours and activities (which are quite expensive) and for some shopping and souveniors. Obviously you can stay in hostels for cheaper and eat cheaper.
