How long does it take to get a working Visa to England?

Can I take my wife with me if I get a Working Holiday Visa to Australia?

  • Im from UK and just married to a Filipina. Were planning to go to Australia and I want to apply a working holiday visa as I'm qualified as UK citizen and 28years old but I want to know if I could take my wife with me as well. Or she also have to apply tourist visa for her. We don't have any dependent child.

  • Answer:

Working Holiday visas are granted to individuals who are eligible for them. Your wife is not from an eligible country, so she cannot get a WHV even though you are eligible for one. She can apply for a Tourist visa and if it is granted, she can go to Australia when you do but TBH, I don't like her chances of getting one unless she can show that she has sufficient financial resources to fund her entire stay. It's also possible that her application could adversely affect your WHV application though I don't know that for sure.

You're from the UK and under 30? You will have no problem getting a working holiday visa in Australia. That gives you a year to work and an extra year on top of that if you do three months specified work in regional Australia during that first year. For your wife, it's different as she isn't from the UK. Certain countries are more strict on certain nationalities, harsh but true. You apply for your visa on your own and let your wife do the same.
