Where is the best place to visit in Australia?

Where is the best place to visit in Australia if you don't like big cities?

  • We will be visiting Australia. We really don't care for large cities. We are from America and live near Chicago. We never go to the city. Where would you recommend?

  • Answer:

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland is paradise (Forget Surfers Paradise). It has lots of beaches, rivers, lakes, beautiful hinterland with delightful little villages, incredible scenery, fantastic markets, especially Eumundi on Wednesdays and Saturdays, art and craft galleries, vineyards, tropical plantations and it's only one hour from Brisbane which has to be one of the loveliest and most laid back garden cities in the world. A trip on the CityCat along the river stopping off at South Bank and other stops is a must for all tourists It doesn't matter what time of year you visit. The name means what it says. The weather is 99% perfect...

Tasmania: natural wilderness, wildlife, historic sites, Cradle Mountain Cairns: Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, crocodile tours, wildlife Uluru: Aboriginal and outback culture, camel treks Drive along NSW coast: beautiful beaches and little beach towns Canberra: small city, nation's capital, lots of museums, galleries etc Kangaroo Island: wildlife especially ocean-going wildlife, rugged coastal scenery The Whitsunday/Queensland Islands: something for everyone, each island has it's own appeal to suit different interests- resorts, reef, wildlife I'd still suggest some time in Sydney, it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world with lots to do. It's very safe (compared to Chicago) and full of energy. Where to go depends a lot on the time of year, eg head north in winter and south in summer.

Mt. Kootha outside of Brisbane, South Bank of Brisbane, upper Coomera on the Gold Coast, Mt. Tambourine on the Gold Coast is a delightful little tourist town in the mountains. Byron Bay on the Gold Coast is beautiful in all ways. I too am from Chicago, and my son lives in Australia and loves it. Do try though, to visit Brisbane - it's a city, but a lovely one - very old world. Do the coasts as well. The water is so clear and blue. Their summer is from about October thru April. You will love the people. They're very family oriented, and the kids all seem so well adjusted. I am sure you will love your trip. Good luck, and have a great time.

Place to visit? You can go to Tasmania and you will see kangaroos there. Of course you may consider Queeensland as one of the best destination spot where you can relax in Gold coast and nature tripping in magnetic island.
