• Hi. Just wanted to know where can I book less expensive day tours in melbourne. Also whether it would be cheaper to different book day tours or hire a car for 4-5 days and to go around all places to be shown by day tour operators. I am considering this because day tours seem to start from around $ 100 per tour which seems a bit expensive to me. Thanks a lot in advance..

  You would be far better off getting onto the public transport system in Melbourne, the Trams go all over the place, it is an easy city to walk in. You would have much more fun on foot etc, then get yourself a cheap hire car when you are ready to go out of Melbourne for drives etc. Car hire would be cheaper than tours and then you could go where you wanted and when. As soon as you hit Melbourne airport there will be hire car booths all over the place, and if not, there will be a kind person who will send you in the right direction.
