Is a student a permanent resident?

How much money will a student that is us permanent resident need to travel to Australia for a month?

  • I am a citizen of the Philippines but I have am a US permanent resident here living here in the United States. I am applying for a visa to go to Australia this December for our winter break. I will only be there for a month as I have to go back to school and for a portion of that time, I will be staying with a friend. I know that I need to show money for my stay there. How much money do I exactly need? I'm a student and my bank account is not as high and I'm really worried that I won't be approved because of this. Help please?

    Depending what you intend doing while you're here I'd think that if you work on $1500 including any local travel costs etc that should see you through ...I am assuming that there will be no accommodation costs.

Make sure when you arrive you have plenty of money and a place to stay, which is good as you are staying with a friend. The OZ customs won't let you in unless you can prove you can sustain yourself for a month (because some people come here in visas and work illegally!). But yeah it depends on which city really... groceries can be very expensive, fast food and restaurants are cheaper than Europe was, but it all depends on what you plan on doing. Seeing as you are staying with someone, I guess groceries won't be an issue. How much do you want to spend a day? Times that by 30 days and add 10% incase something goes wrong. IMHO if I were you I would have around $1,500 - $2,000, I know that may seem like a lot but you never know how much you'd like to spend.
