I'm Italian. How can I call a cell phone in Australia?

  • Hi, I live in Italy, can someone tell me how to call a cell phone in Gold Coast? The number is 040160.... I know the Australian code is 0061 but it doesn' work...

    You must drop the first zero of the actual phone number so you put the Australian code then the number which in the case of a mobile would be 40160.....If that doesn't work 006140160 etc try 001161 as the code. You always drop the first 0 of a mobile phone if you are calling from another country. I presume you have the rest of the numbers after 40160 probably 4 more numbers on the end

you need to get a sim card. they sell them at most phone shops, but make sure its one that can be used to call a mobile in oz. you can ask the phone shop retailer for more info.

You don't need the 061 code for a mobile phone. It sounds as the mobile you are trying to call isn't set up to receive international calls.
