What is the best city of Australia for living?

What do you believe is the best city in Australia to live in?

  • Okay so when I finish school I want to move away from where I am living to another city in Australia so that I can get a fresh start (: I finish school next year and I am wanting to get an apprenticeship. I was wondering do you think I should stay where I am at the moment (Adelaide), finish my apprenticeship and then move around? Because I wouldnt have much money. I like Queensland (Brisbane or Gold Coast) because it is so beachy and more surfy than other cities (at least thats what I think). I dont really want to move to Sydney because I have heard that the traffic is TERRIBLE (and I THINK Melbourne would be the same). I also wouldnt want to move to Perth because the housing prices are sooo high compared to other cities. So yeah I love the beach which is why I am thinking somewhere in Queensland but I dont know what the housing prices and jobs are like there. Any info is appreciated. thanks (: PS: dont be bias in your answer :P

In big cities like Melbourne and Sydney, you would probably be more likely to catch trains and trams (Melbourne), so you can avoid the traffic. I would suggest staying in Adelaide for a few years until you have earned enough money to move somewhere else. The Gold Coast is not a very good place for living, compared to holidaying. Would you prefer to live in a major city, regional city, or somewhere with good access to a major city? Because I would suggest Geelong. It's a pretty good city and only 1 hour train ride from Melbourne (where you will find more work), and it also has the Great Ocean Road pretty much on its doorstep, with many great surf beaches. Renting in Geelong can cost anywhere between about $200-$500 a week, or so.

The one you don't live in must be the best city just from sheer logic that you're not there, zing, just kidding, and I don't know about you, but I would do the sensible and right thing to do whatever that may be. Just Saying.

Jake, apprenticeship in what field? Regardless, I would do it there where your comfortable, get some experience, then make your decision.
