How much would a skiing/snowboarding holiday be?

How much does it cost to go on a holiday to Queensland?

  • In about a year's time (next Christmas) I want to go on a holiday to Queensland. At the moment I live in Melbourne so would require return flights. I am looking to stay between a week to two weeks, during this time I would spend most of my time at Main beach (Gold Coast) having picnics with my partner, going to the restaurants and cafes and going shopping. I want to stay somewhere decent but nothing overly experience so just a nice hotel or something preferrably half hour drive from theme parks. During the holiday I want to go to Dreamworld and Movie World (not sea world or wet n wild) How much would this holiday cost in total, the airfares, food, accommodation, extras etc? If you went to queensland for two weeks how much did you take? and did it last you? I will be going with my partner but would like to know how much it would be per person. Not looking for luxury, just a nice holiday :)

  • Answer:

The Gold Coast is rather expensive, at that time of year you'll be looking at close to $4000 just for your accommodation, flights should be fairly cheap if you shop around you might get them as low as $50. If you sign up for some of those coupon sites you can get meals at nice restaurants for $30 for two people. For two adults you'll be looking at about $400 for admission to the theme parks you want. If you want to do shopping though, stay in Melbourne, there is NO decent shopping on the Gold Coast.

Go anywhere else but Queensland. You know that ad, "Where else but Queensland"? Well, more like "Anywhere else but Queensland". Stinking hell-hole full of garbage and bogans, with massive chips on their shoulders. Go to any of the other 7 states/territories.

Christmas school holidays is the most expensive time to come. You're not going to get the el cheapo airline tickets. Off peak they might be $50 but the cheapest you might get during school holidays is $150 for the cheapest tickets. Accommodation is also going to be hugely expensive. The beach shouldn't cost much but Dream and Movie World are pricey. It's like $75 per person just to get in. That doesn't include food or souvenirs.
