Traveling from london gatwick/heathrow to perth (Aus) and townsville and back to England?
-
Hi all! Heres one for anyone who has time on their hands and would like to help!! Around September 13th 2010 we are planning to see family in australia. There are 2 adults, 1 Junior and 1 Infant. We are planning to go for about a month and have 2 stops to make! We are hoping to fly from London gatwick or Heathrow to Perth around the 13th for about a week and then onto townsville for a wedding on the 18th. A month would take us to the 11th October when we would fly back to London. Would booking the flights seperatly be our cheapest option or should we stick to 2 return flights? i.e london to perth Rtn and perth to townsville rRn? We have not aranged our own holiday before so not very in the know about the ins and outs! Any ideas would be much appreciated! If you want to give flight details please feel free! Thank you! Melissa

Answer:
Since I have plenty of time on my hands hehe. Using http://www.zuji.com.au I have come up with the follow fares (being and aussie site I'll give them in $A then GBP based on http://www.xe.com for currency conversion). London Heathrow - Perth BA7372 (British Airways operated by QANTAS) to Singapore then QF0072 (QANTAS) to Perth $2613.43 (GBP 1574.17) in total one way on 13 September. Perth - Townsville DJ0467 (Virgin Blue) to Brisbane then DJ0379 to Townsville $866.99 (GBP 522.32) in total one way on 18 September. Townsville - London QF2304 (QANTAS) to Cairns then QF0271 (operated by Jetstar) to Singapore then QF3345 (operated by British Airways) to London $4376.34 (GBP 2635.97) in total one way on 11 October. Now to do it as a return trip: London - Perth - London depart London 13 September and return 11 October same flight details as the one way trip to Perth the return however BA7377 (operated by QANTAS) to Singapore BA0012 to London $4332.82 (GBP 2609.75). Perth - Townsville - Perth depart Perth 18 September and return 9 October (cheapest return date by $110) again same flight out of Perth the return QF0969 to Brisbane QF0589 to Perth $2141.77 (GBP 1290.38). All up the one way trips would cost $7856.76 or GBP 4732.46. Return trips total $6474.59 or GBP 3900.13. I think as far as price is concerned the answer is clear. All these prices include taxes. Just for information Western Australia, where Perth is, will be on school holidays from 25 September - 11 October and Queensland, where Townsville is, 17 September - 4 October. Hope this helps you out.
