What are the best ways to promote my new backpacking website?

  • I created a website for backpackers (won't post here as I don't want to spam) but what are the best ways to promote it?

    If you contribute to any forums, eg Lonely Planet's "Thorn Tree", then add your web address to your signature, providing the forums allow this. But don't blatantly advertise. Word of mouth is good of course, so tell all your friends, but also look at social networking sites such as Facebook. Maybe open a group page specifically for your backpacking website, clearly link it to the website itself, and make clear links to both from your personal Facebook page. See if you can link into any websites and forums for trekking, gap year, hostels etc. Make sure you have a header in your website home page program that can easily be picked up by Google and other search engines when people do a search on "backpacking".

post links everywhere open up a mini web site that has just your best backpacks and have a link to your main page convince people that what they need in their life is one of your back packs or find yourself someone who is good at selling things and get them to go around finding people who are willing to look at what you have or want a new back pack.... find sites or people that use backpacks for a living talk to cabelas or ***** sporting goods or any outdoors franchise and see if you can get them to post something if you can prove your gear is good quality and worth them spending money to advertise....anything is possible you just have to set out and get the job done... once you get enough money from your gear get yahoo or ask some site to post your site on their site get a tv add
