Help!!! Working with tourist Visa in Egypt lead to trouble in future?

Anyone had problems getting a tourist visa after having a working holiday visa in Australia?

  • I am currently on a working holiday visa in Australia and have met someone here and now in a defacto relationship. were are a little bit short of living together a full year without breaks and so have to wait before lodging a spose/defacto visa, but my working holiday visa will run out soon. I have been told I can leave the country and return on a tourist visa so that I can then 'make up' the time of 12 months living together and then apply for my spouse visa. What I have also been told is that I might be asked alot of questions at the airport by immigration if I back in on a tourist visa! has anyone had problems getting back into the country with a tourist visa after having a working holiday visa???? what kinda questions did they ask? Please please please anyone help!! many thanks

It's not unheard of for people to get a subclass 676 tourist visa at the end of a WHV (you can apply for that in Australia), but there's every chance that a) you won't get one or b) it is issued with an 8503 No Further Stay condition which would mean that you wouldn't be able to apply for an onshore Partner visa. If you only apply for a 3 month visa, you may be lucky, but that 8503 is a potential problem. If that happened, you would have to go to NZ; lodge your Partner visa application there and wait there until it's granted - may be the only way though. As for leaving the country and coming back on an eVisitor or ETA, read the following question that was asked on here just a couple of weeks ago. That guy's situation was a bit different because he had been here on WHVs for 24 months, but it goes to show what can happen: http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AluUYJAFT8fSZ9kcNv45T_7h5gt.;_ylv=3?qid=20100610200933AAVDaqc&show=7#profile-info-xUHlceWIaa I just noticed that you said "living together a full year without breaks". If you've actually lived together for more than 12 months but had a bit of time apart for good reasons, you may be OK as long as you can satisfy DIAC that the relationship continued during the break/s. We've all had to spend time away from our partners from time to time.
