British Passport to Australia,info,help plz ?

• Hi, Im 19 and have been living in Ireland since i was 2 but i was born in England so am entitled to a british passport.I was thinking of going to Australia after christmas and my father said that it would be easier if I got a british passport as there is no limit to how long you can stay in australia and I might not need a visa..Is this True? Just looking for some more information on the matter because the more days pass,the more i want to go to australia : ] Thanks
