What/where to eat/drink in Oz/NZ?

• What restaurants, foods or drink should we try? Want it to be a speciality of the area - we'll be in Sydney, Cairns, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island & N & S Islands of NZ. Thanks!

  Well in Sydney I'd recommend going to the Skytower revolving restaurant. It is a restaurant that slowly revolves so that you get an amazing 360 view of sydney as you eat. They have a buffet and a set menu. They often have kangaroo steak at their buffet too if you're keen to try it :D Otherwise there's Icebergs in Bondi which is an eatery frequented by celebrities. The view over Bondi beach is amazing however, the price here is a little expensive. Still worth it though for the food and the atmosphere. For breakfast I'd recommend going for a walk around Circular Quay/The Rocks there are plenty of fabulous eateries here and there are great views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The Star City Casino has a great buffet that is very affordable, there is a huge range of Australian and international cusine and the price is great. In Darling Harbour there's a great cafe called 'The Blackbird Cafe' and it serves heaps of yummy foods at a reasonable price. The portions are huge too and the cakes are divine (although you'll probably be too full to finish it). Plus you are right on Darling Harbour! If you are after organic or vegetarian food you can't go past Newtown. In this surburb you'll find heaps of Organic/Vego cafes and restaurants and the food is delicious. Also, if you're just travelling around, there are lots of great cafes in Balmain and Surry Hills and its great to have a look around at all the little shops there too.
