What do I need to do in order to travel to Sydney?

I've known my friend online for about 3 years. At this point, she really wants me to visit her in Sydney. Being in an online relationship for 3 years, I'm really trying my hardest to plan a certain date to see her after I save up a good amount of money. So, I just wanted to know, what do I need to have or do before I ever plan a trip to Sydney, Australia? I would like to have a list of things I need to know
